With the 2020-2021 academic year under way, the employees of Miles Community College recently took part in their 2020 Convocation, which included acknowledgement of the previous term’s additions in personnel. This included an array of employee positions across campus, including the president.
The MCC Board of Trustees concluded the presidential search for its ninth president with the announcement of Mr. Ron Slinger accepting the position. President Slinger was formally introduced as president effective January 21, 2020.
BeKa Stein Phipps was hired as the Marketing and Communications Coordinator. BeKa graduated from MCC with her Graphic Design Assistant certificate, Sales & Marketing Certificate, along with her AAS in Graphic and Web Design (May 2020-Valedictorian). BeKa has extensive marketing and graphic design experience, having owned and operated two businesses in the last several years.
Deidre Fitzgerald is the newest full-time Nursing/Science Instructor. Deidre has worked with MCC previously as a Clinical Resource Registered Nurse (CRRN) and adjunct faculty member. (No Photo Available.)
Siera Adams joined the MCC facilities department as a custodian. Siera came to campus with a vast amount of experience ranging from Dorm Custodian/Hotel Housekeeping and Wrangler at Yellowstone National Park, General Ranch Hand, as well as Dorm Custodian at MSU-Billings.
J’nine Dittus accepted the Dining Services Aide position. J’nine has multiple years of experience in both the food service and catering areas. (No Photo Available.)
Mary Strouf accepted the Library Assistant position. This position provides access to and guidance in library resources and services, as well as performs clerical and technical duties.
Kim Helmts was hired as the new Nursing & Allied Health Programs Advisor. Kim transitioned from Admissions Counselor position to the nursing department and serves as the primary academic advisor for Pre-Nursing, Phlebotomy, Pre-Medical Lab Tech and Pre-Rad Tech students, as well as general administrative support to the entire Nursing Department.
Jill Olson accepted the Admissions Counselor. This position is responsible for recruitment efforts, which includes travel to college fairs and high school visits, conducting campus tours, coordination of Preview Days and campus visits as well as communications with prospective and new students.

Jordan Ulrich joined the college as the Registrar effective August 10th. Jordan is responsible for the day-to-day management of student academic records, course registration, recording of grades, and administrative tasks related to academic policies and degree requirements.
Sarin Hoppe has been hired as the SBDC Business Advisor/COVID Specialist. Sarin will lead the response and recovery of small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. She will provide consulting and training for small business owners/entrepreneurs impacted by COVID-19 and assist them in stabilizing, recovering, and rebuilding.
Tyler Niedge accepted the position as CDL and Heavy Equipment Instructor beginning Fall 2020 semester. Tyler will be responsible for student recruitment and quality instruction. These programs provide students with practical skills for enhanced employment opportunities in CDL and heavy equipment operations.
Stan Wheeler has been hired as Maintenance Technician. Stan provides maintenance and repair to all facilities on campus including but not limited to including painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and maintenance of heating and cooling systems. Stan is also be responsible for maintenance of and service to all MCC vehicles.

Elizabeth Patten has been hired as the Director of Institutional Advancement. This position provides leadership and strategic direction for private resource development, public and private grant development, internal and external communications, and marketing. This position reports to the MCC President and serves as chief liaison to the MCC Foundation and its officers.
