MILES CITY, MONTANA: MILES CITY, MONTANA: Each year at Miles Community College, distinguished graduating student awards are given to three MCC students based on the individual's time as a student, including their academic and co-curricular involvement. These awards are presented at graduation ceremonies and are given in three divisions: General/Arts and Sciences, Career and Technical, and Nursing. Nominations are submitted in the spring by MCC faculty and staff.

This year, the Class of 2024 Outstanding Graduate in the Career and Technical Division is Tyann Graham of Glasgow, Montana. Graham will be graduating summa cum laude with three degrees at this Saturday’s graduation ceremony; an Associate of Applied Science in Small Business Management, a Certificate in Accounting, and a Certificate in Graphic Design Assistant.

Graham is an active student on campus. She has been a key member of the Women’s Pioneer Basketball team since 2022 and is the President of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee on campus. She also served as a Resident Assistant this year and completed an internship in the MCC Marketing Department earlier this spring.

“This is such a huge honor,” Graham stated. “I've loved my time here at MCC. The faculty and staff make it so easy (and fun) to get involved on campus, it’s hard to not want to be a part of it all.”

Graham was surprised with the award during one of her information technology courses on campus, where MCC faculty and staff joined together in interrupting the classroom to present her with a certificate and medallion. Her basketball coach and teammates even joined in on the celebration.

“I was completely surprised to get it!” she exclaimed.

Graham logged countless community service hours both on and off campus during her time at MCC through student activities, team-organized projects, and as an RA. She assisted with the annual Fall Carnival Nights, Special Olympics, and basketball camps held for local school-aged children. She also received the Campus Compact Montana Athlete in Service Award last fall.

The three Outstanding Graduate Award winners will lead in the student processional during the 84th MCC Commencement Ceremony held this Saturday at 10:00 am in the MCC Centra.
