MILES CITY, MONTANA: Jay Wiebers grew up in Cohasset, Minnesota, and has been with Miles Community College for over 16 years, working in the information technology department on campus.
“Hello, this is Jay. How may I help you?”
These words best describe his everyday work routine, where he spends hours fielding phone calls and emails assisting those on campus with technology issues, as well as working on the backend of endless servers and networks.
“Jay’s favorite part of working at MCC is helping people, so it comes as no surprise that he enjoys his time troubleshooting issues with staff and student computers, office phones, sound/video equipment, and more.
He also spends his time on campus as an IT faculty member, teaching courses on computer networking and PC maintenance and repair.
Jay describes himself as sarcastic, distant, indecisive, quiet, and an “Eeyore”, referencing the beloved Winnie the Pooh character. Outside of work, he enjoys sleeping.
When asked what he would be doing if not working at MCC, Jay stated boldly, “I’d be starving.”
He enjoys working at the college and believes in the mantra of living for the present. “Be in the here and now as you will never know what opportunities you may stumble into.”
