MCC Nursing Program Reaches ACEN Accreditation Status

MCC Nursing Students

MILES CITY, MONTANA: The Miles Community College Nursing Program has been granted initial accreditation by the ACEN (Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing) following its meeting in March of 2022.

MCC continues to maintain its approval through the Montana State Board of Nursing, as well as all other regional collegiate accreditations.

The ACEN is a specialized professional accreditation bureau, providing accreditation for all levels of nursing education and transition-to-practice programs located in the United States and is recognized in addition to the state and regional educational accreditation agencies. ACEN has been acknowledged as the leading authority for nursing education accreditation.

The ACEN professional accreditation demonstrates that the MCC nursing program has passed an extensive external review and is continuing to provide quality patient care as a result of the curriculum being taught through the program.

MCC’s Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Rita Kratky, recognizes the effort put forth by MCC Nursing Director Deidre Fitzgerald and the rest of the nursing faculty and staff, alongside the nursing students’ hard work and dedication to the program to achieve this milestone.

“I would also like to thank our partnerships with the many hospitals and clinics in eastern Montana for their strong support with clinical opportunities that help make our outstanding program so successful,” stated Kratky.

The ACEN Board of Commissioners granted initial accreditation to the Miles Community College associate nursing program and scheduled the next evaluation visit for Fall 2026.
