MCC Campus and Centra Phase II Reopening Updates

In compliance with Governor Bullock’s orders made on May 19, Miles Community College has implemented additional changes within Phase II of the state reopening plans.

Beginning June 1, the MCC Lucas Hall building will be open from 9:00am to 4:00pm during the week (Monday through Friday). This building on campus houses the Student Services desk, the Business and Financial Aid offices, and most staff and administration. Access to the building can be made through Doors C and D during these regular hours.

Meetings hosted on campus may now include up to 50 individuals, while still adhering to physical and social distancing when possible. Waiting areas on campus will still be limited to one individual and immediate family only. In-person classes held over the summer will have faculty screening students for any symptoms related to the coronavirus. Physical and social distancing will again be encouraged when working in group settings.

The MCC Centra fitness center and gym will also adjust operations beginning June 1 in accordance with Phase II of reopening. The Centra will now be open Monday through Friday from 5:00am to 7:00pm, and 9:00am to 4:00pm on Saturday and Sunday. The center will be operating at 75% capacity level, which will now include indoor classes with strict physical distancing enforced. Members will still be required to check-in upon arriving and exiting the premises.

The MCC Library will continue to be available on a scheduled basis. Several other offices throughout campus will continue to work remotely when possible. According to the Governor’s reopening plan, the travel quarantine will expire on June 1 and out of state students will be welcomed back to campus. Students will be encouraged to quarantine for 14 days before arriving if having been exposed to the coronavirus. Faculty and staff traveling out of state will also be aware of other state’s restrictions and requirements.

MCC will continue to be vigilant in promoting personal safety with extensive cleaning efforts in public areas. They will continue to assess the national, regional, and local situation and will work closely with public health officials.
