The Miles Community College Nursing Program has been granted Candidacy for professional accreditation by the ACEN (Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing), effective February 3, 2020.
MCC had withdrawn its ACEN accreditation in January for not meeting one of the six criteria standards ACEN has in place. MCC’s sole hurdle had been NCLEX (National Council Licensure Exam) pass rates, after steadily rising from an all-time low in 2016. In 2019, MCC saw its highest pass rates in the last six years at 75 percent, while still falling short of the 80 percent benchmark set by the ACEN.
The MCC Nursing Program will have one year to review and present on the ACEN standards and NCLEX pass rate before presenting their Candidacy presentation for approval by February 3, 2021.
