Dr. Stacy Klippenstein has announced that he will be leaving Miles Community College to become the sixth President of Mohave Community College in Kingman, AZ. Klippenstein, Miles Community College’s eighth president, has been at MCC since January 2014.
Klippenstein informed the MCC Board of Trustees of his decision last week, and begins his position at Mohave Community College on July 1. Mohave Community College is a comprehensive community college serving more than 6,000 students each year. The college serves the northwest portion of the state of Arizona and neighboring communities in California, Nevada, and Utah. It has campuses in Kingman, Lake Havasu City, Bullhead City, and Colorado City.
“I am excited about this new opportunity to serve as the sixth president at Mohave Community College in Kingman, AZ,” commented Dr. Klippenstein. “I am equally saddened about leaving Miles Community College, Miles City, and this region of Montana. It has been a pleasure to serve as your president and I believe, together, we have made this a great place to learn, live, and have fun. I want to thank the MCC Board of Trustees for their trust and support over the past five years. The faculty and staff have put students first and have created a stable and forward-thinking institution. Way to go team. Thank you to the MCC Foundation Board for their commitment to serve MCC and help build the new Ag Advancement Center/Champion Arena. Carrie and I will miss our friends, attending all the fun events, and watching our students and student-athletes succeed. We both say thank you.”
MCC Board of Trustees Chair, Debbie Morford, had this to say about Dr. Klippenstein’s departure, “As the Chair of the Board of Trustees, I know I speak for the entire Board in thanking Dr. Klippenstein for all of his time and hard work over the last 5 years leading Miles Community College. We wish we were able to keep him here another couple of years, but understand when an opportunity like this presents itself, he needs to pursue it. Stacy will truly be missed. Stacy has helped accomplish a lot in a short period of time. His leadership has been at the forefront in implementing strategic planning and enrollment growth, in overseeing the construction of the Ag Advancement Center, in supporting and expanding our athletic programs, in empowering his staff and faculty, and in always having the best interests of the students at heart. He has led MCC in becoming more visible in the community and in being recognized in the state and region as a quality higher ed institution. Stacy will be leaving MCC with a strong foundation, with staff and leadership well prepared to continue meeting student needs in providing quality education. We are proud of everything he and his staff have achieved and know we are in a good position to continue these efforts! We wish Stacy and Carrie the very best on their move to Arizona. They both will be missed in the community!”
“As for the future, the Board will begin to work with campus leadership to establish the best interim coverage and search timelines. Of course, we will keep you informed as we formulate our plans.”
