SBDC & MILES COMMUNITY COLLEGE HIRE TRACY BAKER

The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and Miles Community College have hired Tracy Baker as the SBDC Regional Director/Workforce Development & Community Outreach Coordinator to replace Alex Evans who moved to Bozeman last month. Tracy Baker started this position at the beginning of September.

Baker grew up in Anchorage, Alaska, but has lived in Miles City, Montana for 13 years. Prior to being the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Regional Director and the Miles Community College (MCC) Workforce Development & Community Outreach Coordinator, Tracy was the Miles City Area Economic Development Council (MCAEDC) Executive Director and Loan Officer for SouthEastern Montana Economic Development Corporation (SEMDC). She provided economic development and promoted business development for MCAEDC while assisting the SEMDC clients with advice, business plans, financing and RLF loans. Tracy also organized and directed the annual Leadership Miles City program and she recently completed the National Development Council Economic Development Finance ED101 course.

As the new SBDC Regional Director, Baker will serve a nine-county region – Custer, Carter, Dawson, Fallon, Powder River, Prairie, Rosebud, Treasure, and Wibaux. The services provided are business planning, financial analysis, market research assistance, marketing planning, entrepreneurial development, and business management for start-up businesses and already established businesses alike.

Along with her work as SBDC Regional Coordinator, Baker will also be taking on the role of Workforce Development & Community Outreach Coordinator for MCC. In this position, she will be working to develop workforce training and certification opportunities and coordinate the outreach and programming with the Ag Advancement Center and advanced technologies, drones and solar/wind development.
