Two Miles Community College students have made it to the state round of the Farm Bureau Discussion Meet.
Jasmine Evans of Glendive, MT and Sheldon Danforth of Deer Lodge, MT will be competing Sunday, November 12th in Billings. The meet will be held at the Northern Hotel in Billings, MT at 3:00pm. The meet is open to the public and observers are encouraged to attend and show your support for these students.
MCC is the only Community College that made it to the state level competition. The Discussion Meet is meant to simulate a committee meeting with ideas discussed and solutions developed. During the Meet participants freely discuss a current topic affecting the agriculture industry while practicing their public speaking and analytical skills. MCC Agriculture Instructor, Kim Gibbs works with these students and says that “Students who participate in discussion meets learn how to work with others and create a logical plan to solve a problem at hand.”
If Jasmine and Sheldon do well at the meet, they will advance to the National Meet which is held in Reno, NV in February.
