General Fee Descriptions
Name Per Credit Purpose
Incidental Fee $4.50 For the purchase of various incidental supplies for Instruction, Academic Support, Student Services, and Institutional Support.
Student Center Building Use Fee $2.50 For the routine repair, maintenance, and operations of the student union building (Smith Center).
PE Building Use Fee $6.50 For the routine repair, maintenance, and operations of the physical education building and gymnasium (Centra).
Instructional Media Fee $1.00 For the purchase of instructional media (i.e. video's, DVD's, librarary materials, subscriptions, etc.).
Instructional Computer Fee $5.50 For the purchase of computers, servers, network equipment, software, and supplies for student computer labs.
Instructional Equipment/Materials Fee $4.00 For the purchase of instructional/classroom equipment and supplies.
Building Fee $4.00 For non-routine repair and maintenance of campus buildings.
Administrative Computer Fee $5.00 For the purchase of computers, servers, network equipment, software, and supplies for the student data system, accounting and payroll system, and other administrative information technology systems.
Student Association Fee $3.00 To fund the operations of the Miles Community College Student Senate.
Athletic Fee $3.50 To fund the operations of the Miles Community College athletic programs - Rodeo, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Volleyball, Golf, and Cheerleading.
Telecommunications Fee $3.00 To fund the delivery of distance education courses including: interactive television line charges, on-line platform charges, interactive television technicians in the classrooms, equipment, and supplies.
Graduation Fee $0.50 For the purchase of caps, gowns, tassels, diplomas, etc. for graduation.

Application Fee
There is a $30 nonrefundable application fee required of all students when application as a degree-seeking student is submitted.

Auditing Fees
Full tuition and fees are required when auditing any class.

Continuing/Adult Education Fees
Students carrying 15 or more credits per term, excluding adult or continuing education classes, do not pay additional fees. Students pay the adult education tuition cost listed in addition to their regular tuition and fees.

Distance Education Fee
An additional fee of $35 per credit is added to each interactive television (ITV) and online course.
 
Laboratory and Shop Fees

Late Fee
A late fee of $50 is assessed to all regular students whose tuition and fees are not paid in full or whose deferred payment contract has not been completed by the 16th day of classes.

Miscellaneous Course Fees
Certain courses require the use of special facilities, non-reusable materials, special equipment, materials which require a royalty, or private lessons. These courses have fees that are noted in the schedule of classes. Some of these programs include Heavy Equipment, Art, and Energy.

Registered Nursing Students
Students enrolled in the Registered Nursing Program are assessed a $350 per semester program fee and have additional expenses for uniforms, liability insurance, NLN Pre-Admission Exam, lab supplies, online testing, and ATI tests. Contact the Nursing Office for details.

Student ID Card
A $5 fee will be applied to students registered for fewer than six credits or for a replacement card.
