Miles Community College is excited that you will begin your educational career with us!
We hope you are equally excited about this new chapter in your life. In preparation to make
your transition to college as smooth as possible, we invite you to attend one of our Student
Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) sessions this summer.
All new students are required to attend an Orientation before they begin their first
semester at Miles Community College. SOAR sessions will allow new students to become
acquainted with the programs and support services available at MCC and will introduce
them to their responsibilities as an MCC student. Students will also take placement tests,
meet with an advisor, and register for fall semester classes. By completing a SOAR session
this summer, students and their families can be assured that all required college business
is taken care of prior to arriving on campus for fall classes, making the transition to college
life much less stressful!
Parents and guests are also encouraged to attend SOAR with you, as there is programming
specifically for them. They will meet college officials, learn about campus services, and
understand more about the Miles Community College community.
At SOAR, students will be able to:
- Obtain student ID cards and learn about IT resources
- Learn about MCC’s conversion to Banner, which will provide online access to grades, bills, schedules, and other services
- Learn about student organizations and activities
- Gain an understanding of degree and graduation requirements at MCC
Students and their guests will be able to:
- Learn about the many resources available to MCC students
- Learn about financial aid, billing, and debt management
- Enter to win a variety of prizes
- Enjoy lunch on us

You may choose to attend any one of our six SOAR sessions; each session
will be capped at 25 students to ensure that you receive the personalized
attention that we pride ourselves on at MCC. Sessions will begin at 8:30 a.m.
and run until approximately 3:30 p.m. Lunch will be served. SOAR sessions will be held:

Again, SOAR is required for all new students. Because each
session is capped at 25, advance registration is also
required, and students will be registered for SOAR on a
first come, first serve basis. If you have submitted an
application for admission, you should have received an
invitation to SOAR, along with a registration form. You may

1.800.541.9281, x6211, to register. You will be contacted if
the session you have selected has been filled. Closed
sessions will be listed above.
