Miles Community College President Hicswa Named AACC Presidents Academy Executive Committee Nominee
 

President Stefani HicswaStefani Gray Hicswa, Miles Community College President, has been named as a nominee for the 2009 American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) President's Academy Executive Committee. Nominees represent community college CEOs from the Northern, Central, Western and Pacific regions. Members of the Executive Committee are nominated by professional colleagues in recognition of their outstanding leadership in community college education. Committee members are elected to three year terms and meet four times a year throughout the United States. Each member of the Executive Committee represents their region serving as the educational liaison of the AACC. Their role is to network within their region, encourage involvement with the AACC, and gather input for professional development needs of community college presidents. The 2009 election of the Presidents Academy Executive Committee will be held in late April and all candidates will be notified of the results in June.

President Hicswa assumed the Miles Community College presidency in July 2006. Since that time, she has served as a panelist for rural healthcare in June 2008 facilitated by the Rural Policy Research Institute (RUPRI). President Hicswa and MCC Board of Trustees member, Sharon Wilcox, presented a session on "Building Hope for Rural Survival: Role of Community Colleges in Rural Community Development" at the 2007 Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) Conference. In addition, President Hicswa was honored as a 2007 Distinguished Graduate at the University of Texas at Austin in recognition of national contribution to American community colleges.

She received her baccalaureate degree from The University of Montana and master's degree from Montana State University-Bozeman. She received her doctorate through the University of Texas at Austin Community College Leadership Program.
